Started well but petered out - 2 Days in Paris Reviews

Tailed off about halfway through. The ordinary life funny stuff in the beginning was good. Then, it went over the top to show how crazy life can get, but it was just weird. Then, at the last moment, the acerbic boyfriend suddenly does a complete about-face in his attitude toward the relationship, making you wonder what you just sat through.

Excellent film - 2 Days in Paris Reviews

this was a very enjoyable film.
it reminded me of a woody allen film.
i hope you enjoy it.

Dull and unfunny - 2 Days in Paris Reviews

I expected more from this movie, but it just didn't deliver. Watching a couple fight and bicker for an hour and a half in an un-funny way isn't all that pleasant. We would have walked out (which we never do) but I didn't want to wake my wife.

Did you get your money back ? - 2 Days in Paris Reviews

I did. This was a so-called relationship movie that attempted a Woody Allen approach to life. BS - it was a sophmoric foul mouthed empty movie.

Very, very funny - 2 Days in Paris Reviews

This movie was hilarious!! I would see it again & I plan on buying it when it comes out on DVD... I also liked the fact that the story was original.

Hilarious, snarky, you'll love it - 2 Days in Paris Reviews

HOORAY for Julie Delpy! She has written, directed, acted in and co-edited an EXTREMELY funny, down-to-earth "relationship" comedy. The scenes with her parents were out-of-this- world hysterical (her real parents played these roles, and even her cat acted in the movie). In the midst of the hilarity are a lot of touching truths, about love, society, family and even politics. Go see it! Great date movie--and even better if one of you speaks French. Some of the dialogue is so fast and intertwined that the English subtitles for these sections must pare down what is said. 75% English, 25% French, 100% relationship-accurate. If you have ever tried to use an ill-fitting condom....don't miss this!

Funny funny movie - 2 Days in Paris Reviews

You know the French are different from us. Julie Dephy is both Americanized and French. She as author, director, editor, of this film, knows how to make fun of us and them. Funniest movie since Men in Black, which is also about aliens.

Dont waste 2 minutes on this movie - 2 Days in Paris Reviews

I know u think it looks good but it is not. Sorry Julie I normally think you are good but this movie was toooooooooooooo much!!!!!!!!!!! I was just dying to leave but thought it would get better, but boy was I wrong :( Maybe watch this movie when it comes on cable if there is nothing else on tv

Stereotypical - 2 Days in Paris Reviews

This a Woody Allen movie without the Woody Allen talent. Just about every stereotype about the French (smelly, argumentative, cheating...) is covered. I gather the movie's budget did not allow the director to hire talented French actors, just B grade actors.

Refreshing - 2 Days in Paris Reviews

What a refreshing movie. Funny, witty, well written. I had no idea what to expect. I laughed throughout the movie.

Ten minutes in " two days in paris" is too long. - 2 Days in Paris Reviews

The story was juvenile as was the acting and the film. It looked like a poorly done home movie. Ten minutes into the movie I wanted to ask for my money back.

Charming - 2 Days in Paris Reviews

This is a charming follow-on to Julie Delphy's two Parisian love tales co-starring w/ Ethan Hawke, albeit less lovey-dovey and a little more wry if not raunchy humor. A great French confection, in short.

A fun trip through paris - 2 Days in Paris Reviews

This was kind of like a Woody Allen film without the annoyance of having Woody Allen in it. Well-directed by Julie Delpy. It is funny through out, but gets serious at the end. That isn't a complaint, though. In fact, it might make for some good conversation afterward. It was interesting that Delpy allowed herself to create and play a flawed protagonist. She is flawed in ways she may not realize -- her boyfriends ARE all sort of interchangable. And the speech she makes at the end, about not wanting to break up with her current boyfriend because she can't face another break-up -- that says a lot in ways the character may not realize. She doesn't seem to want to stay with him because of who he is, any unique qualities he may possess. She seems to want to stay together because she doesn't want to go through this process again. Yikes! Would you want to stay in a relationship because of that?

2 many minutes - 2 Days in Paris Reviews

The only thing I liked about this movie was Paris. I spent a month there in 1999 and it brought back memories. Unfortunately, the experiences in this film were all clichés. Dumb Americans, rude French people, and neurotic New Yorkers (well this may not be a cliché). The film is dialog driven and we are forced to be intimate with two people. These two people are not very likeable and I felt like I was at a party in a small apartment with awful people. I wanted to leave early, but my friend was enjoying the film.

A laugh a minute - 2 Days in Paris Reviews

This is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. It was literally almost a laugh a minute. Not sure how good the gag lines are for Franco-American relations but anyone with a good sense of humor will be able to rise above that. Get yourself out to meet this most eccentric and endearing ensemble of characters. Keep an open heart and an open mind. True love is just around the corner.

A waste--- - 2 Days in Paris Reviews

Seeing this movie was a complete waste of time & money. It went on & on about nothing - there was no point or ending - it just suddenly stopped. There are so many other romantic stories that are much more satisfying. Sad commentary when writers can find nothing more positive to share with moviegoers.

2 days seems like 22 - 2 Days in Paris Reviews

I really was dissapointed by this film. I was expecting a light romantic comedy, and what I got was a terrible rehash of a bad Woody Allen film. Shame on Julie Delpy who should remain an actress and give up writing and directing which were both cliches. Really skip this one, unless you have a real desire to see a little of Paris on film.

Delightful - 2 Days in Paris Reviews

It is a delight to go to a Movie that delivers on all fronts..Story Acting Direction etc.2 days in Paris may at the outset appear to be fluff but beware there is much more to this tale than the first few minutes may seem to indicate. This is one well done flick. I loved the film and will I trust see it again.

2 days that seem like 2 years - 2 Days in Paris Reviews

This movie is a real lemon with superficial, smartalecky dialogue, infinite in your face closeups of self-conscious, pretentious people wallowing in their cleverness. There may be some funny moments but the characters are so unlikeable it doesn't make any difference. B-O-R-I-N-G

Delpy reveals the minutiae of a fractious couple - 2 Days in Paris Reviews

Julie Delpy has a most acerbically idiosyncratic ear for dialogue, and she seems to have this facility in both English and French. The disarming actress actually co-wrote the perceptive script to Richard Linklater's "Before Sunset" (2005), the reflective nine-years later sequel to "Before Sunrise", with Linklater and co-star Ethan Hawke. This time, she takes charge of the script and direction, as well as the leading role of a French photographer named Marion, who stops at her part-time flat in Paris with her angst-driven American boyfriend Jack. On their way back to New York from a disastrous trip to Venice, the fractious couple stops over to visit her eccentric parents, but it turns into a more revelatory trip about her past than either is prepared to face. While the similarities to the Linklater films are self-evident, the 2007 film reminds me most of Woody Allen's epochal "Annie Hall" but obviously over a much more concentrated period and with a far more bracing tone. The ramshackle, seemingly unstructured scenes pick up a detail of life that for better and worse, one rarely gets to see on screen. Taken as a series of off-kilter episodes, the movie is entertaining, especially a rabbit dinner scene that firmly establishes Jack as the family outsider. Viewed as a whole, however, it falls short in making a more resonant observation about the characters other than their mounting incompatibility. Part of the reason is that we can already tell from the first scene when the couple is waiting for a taxicab that they thrive on conflict, so what tethers them has a degree of questionability from the outset. Another reason is a discernible imbalance between the leads. With the Linklater films as her obvious training ground, Delpy brings such an intelligent spark to Marion that every moment feels spontaneous. Her assured and particularly Gallic sense of self grounds the film when it threatens to get overwhelmed by its eccentricities. Casting the often nerve-grating Adam Goldberg as Jack is a bold move for Delpy and not an altogether successful one. With his intense stare and constantly put-upon manner, the actor comes across as more irritating than clever even though Delpy generously gives him the lion's share of the laughs. It is she who makes them believable as a couple. What he does do well is portray his faltering confidence and increasing paranoia in primal strokes. Over those two defining days, Jack meets Marion's artsy, offbeat friends, three of whom are ex-lovers, and the unwanted attention of a number of other men. The funniest, most unexpected scene is in the Metro when they try avoiding a death-stare stranger who has no hesitation circling them like a buzzard. A genuine spark is provided by Delpy's real-life parents, Albert Delpy and Marie Pillet, who play Marion's bohemian, exasperating parents. With Delpy showing obvious talent behind and in front of the camera, the film is caustic fun and an effective, sometimes wistful rumination on what couples really know about each other. I just wish it came together a bit more than it does.

Hilarious! - 2 Days in Paris Reviews

This movie is hilarious! I really wasn't sure about it when I was buying a ticket because this movie seemed more of an underground movie. I usually like hollywood films and I really wasn't expecting much. The storyline was perfect, acting was great and I loved how they filmed the different side of Paris. They covered the racism, the french culture and the conflict between a couple. This is the movie you don't want to miss.

Accurate, but poorly filmed - 2 Days in Paris Reviews

This is one of those love it or hate it films. The premise, a couple stopping in Paris for two days on the way home to NYC from Venice to pick up the woman's cat, as about as real as they come. The movie speaks to the reason I never vacation with a loved one. And with the same result the couple times I used to. As a frequent Paris-visitor, the familial and sexual aspects of differences between American and French families and friends is very accurately portrayed. I was at at similar party one evening only a few months ago where the patois and flirting were identical. What is missing in this film is FILM...the visuals are boring (it's Paris! Come on!) and where scenes should be in focus, they are thrown out of focus by the handheld camera work. In other scenes, where backgrounds make sense (what's more Parisian than arguing on the banks of the Seine?) the focus uses such shallow depth of field that all you see are faces and clothing...and you completely lose touch with the Paris that is around you at all times. Adam Goldberg is the revelation here -- his work is both over-the-top as well as casually understated at times, as the paranoid and jealous male lover in this couple. This is what I like to consider "Typical Cinema des Francais"...argue, bitch, complain, talk, talk, fight, break up, try to understand why, end with a romantic flashback while rap music plays over the credits. Blah.

Awesome little film - 2 Days in Paris Reviews

Delpy did a ton of work, and the whole thing came together perfectly. I loved this film. It was a funny insight into relationships, and viewers get to know French people very well.
